Microsoft offers no Australian service support hotline

Xbox 360 - Image 1The folks down at Smarthouse has recently come across info from the Xbox website that strikes a somewhat discordant chord with the people from down under. They found that Microsoft gives no local service support hotline for Xbox 360 owners in Australia.

Instead of being provided a local hotline, they are asked to call U.S. support number where they will be charged for the long distance service. This recent development surfaced after some bad reception when Microsoft remained vague on a price cut for some regions outside the U.S.

The price cut will affect all Xbox SKUs in the U.S. – the highest price slash being US$ 50. Other regions were only given lukewarm attention, though. A Microsoft Australia representative commented on the price drop, saying, “This is an announcement out of the U.S. for the North American market. If we have any local announcements to make, we’ll be sure to let you know.”

Perhaps with all the hubbub Microsoft is facing right now – what with lawsuits, red ring of death and Peter Moore leaving and all – it probably hasn’t come up yet until now.
