Microsoft Partners with Redington for Xbox 360 in India
Some two months ago, we reported that Microsoft intends to launch the Xbox 360 in India. Today, the company announced it will be partnering with Redington India as the sole distribution partner in the country. Utilizing Redington’s already established network of resellers and consumer touch points, the console will be distributed across Chennai, New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Pune.
“With high percentage of young population and increasing income levels, Indians are looking for newer ways of entertainment. Given that India is almost a virgin market for gaming devices, we see a big opportunity for Xbox 360,” said J. S. Kulkarni, CEO of Redington India.“We are quite excited about the product and our partnership with Microsoft for distribution and post-sales services for this product.”
To expand the market reach and increase the distribution efficiency, Redington is now planning to open 15 flagship Xbox stores in the seven cities mentioned above. A team of 35 trained staff will be assembled, to provide After-sales service support and warranty. A pre-order campaign has already been launched. The console will be sold for 19,990 rupees ($439 USD).
