Microsoft Pre-TGS 2006 Conference Info
You guys know how press conferences go. Information is generally disseminated at a very controlled pace. A lot of spin is put into it. Lots of important people go up on stage to talk and a lot of things we probably know from way back in E3 are stated again (or shown again in the case of Gears of War).
So here’s what the good folks at NeoGaf filtered out of the marketing muck:
For Japan – it’s for Japan so I’m not bothering calculating the yen to dollars – a new 360 core pack that includes Ninety-Nine Nights and Project Gotham Racing 3 was announced. It should sell for 29,800 yen. There’s also a 360 premium pack that has just Blue Dragon, and it sells for about the same price.
The Xbox Live Vision Camera will come with a month of XBL Gold and a free compilation of Uno, all for 4200yen. The Hard Drive and the remote will be hitting stores for 9,500yen and 3,000yen respectively. Also The HD-DVD add on was revealed. It connects with USB and supports full 1080p. It will retail for around 20,790yen. Now I know non-Japanese folks will be interested about this so that’s around $177 if you convert it. Although, there is no word yet on US pricing and US release.
For the rest of the world, the wireless headset comes out on November 2. Bankshot Billiards 2, Hardwood Hearts, Hardwood Spades, and Hardwood Backgammon will join Uno as XBLA titles that support the Xbox Live Vision Camera. Other titles like Defender, Fatal Fury Special, Contra, and Gyruss were also mentioned to use the camera.
For those eager for Ninja Volleyball, Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 will be out by November 15 in the US and November 22 in Japan. What’s weird is that in Japan it will retail for the absurd price of 9,240yen or $79. The demand there must warrant the price, huh?
Here’s the big one.
Microsoft announced that a fall update for the 360 will allow all of their games and movie output to go to 1080p.
