Microsoft reports 11.6 million 360s shipped as of June 2007
There are two words that can spawn several heated debates among gamers everywhere: console wars. Next Generation has reportedly received an email from Microsoft stating that 11.6 million units of its next gen console has been “sold” as of June. Microsoft later clarified that the figure indicated was the number of Xbox 360s shipped and not sold (contrary to what was originally reported).
A few days back, it was reported that Nintendo’s contender, the Wii, was currently leading the race as the best-selling next-gen console. If we’re to compare the Nintendo Wii’s numbers as of June, Nintendo reports that 9.27 units were sold to retailers. Sony on the other hand clocks in with 5.5 million PlayStation 3s by the end of March.
So who’s winning? We’d have to check back for more news regarding this. Plus in the long run, it rarely about the numbers, right?
