Microsoft: this generation of consoles will have longer life cycle

According to Microsoft‘s Robbie Bach though, this current generation is so good that we won’t see a new generation anytime soon.

Just coming up with something that’s faster and prettier isn’t going to be sufficient.

The life cycle for this generation of consoles – and I’m not just talking about Xbox, I’d include Wii and PS3 as well – is probably going to be a little longer than previous generations.


At CES, he also said that Microsoft is sticking to the Xbox 360 longer than usual because fewer people want to upgrade. Seeing as we’re smack dab in the middle of an economic crisis, I would say that that’s the smart thing to do.
