Microsoft to launch Xbox 360 in China soon says “industry sources”
Xbox 360 piracy may be quite popular in China, but that doesn’t stop Microsoft from officially launching its Xbox 360 console in the next few months. Nothing is confirmed as of now, but according to a Reuters report, industry sources are saying that the launch will occur in the next few months due to MS’ move to expand beyond its traditional focus of selling PC software in the most populated country in the world.
Apparently, MS has been in discussing the launch with local internet service providers and PC makers since late 2006. In addition to that, they are also said to be planning on appointing several sales agents for the X360. To add more fire to that speculation, the Bill Gates camp is also checking with the Chinese government probably to know if they have no qualms with the product.
There lies the problem. In case you are not aware, the Chinese government reviews the content of video games sold in China, they have also been cautious about approving the sales of imported games.
As to what MS had to say with this round of speculations, they are still not giving a specific time-frame as to when the Xbox 360 will begin selling in China.
