Microsoft to replace AC adaptors for the Xbox 360 steering wheel for free

Microsoft has given word that they will be providing owners of the Xbox 360 Wireless Wheel with a free retrofit. This move was sparked by a few incidents in which the wheel component of the item would actually overheat and release smoke.

So far, there has been no reported incidents of fire, personal injury, or personal damage due to this malfunction. However, it would be best not to tempt fate and use the current AC-DC power supply that came with the product. It was also suggested that battery power be used as an alternative at least until the owners are able to obtain the replacement units from Microsoft.
