In a recent interview with Jeff Bell, Corporate Vice President of Marketing for the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft, he talked about the how the Xbox 360 will compete with the Wii in casual gaming and how Microsoft will address console repairs during the holidays.
When asked whether Microsoft was prepared to address red-ringed consoles during the holidays, Bell explained that they have anticipated a surge for that season. He says that Microsoft has the “capacity in place” for holiday repairs.
Bell also went into how the Xbox 360 will be going into the casual gaming arena, saying that he was impressed with the success of the Wii and that Microsoft is continually broadening its portfolio in Live Arcade.
He was also asked a bunch of questions whose answers would have been interesting had he been able to comment, like: whether or not Microsoft is pursuing the Final Fantasy franchise and if they are coming out with an Xbox 360 version with an internal HD DVD drive.
