Microsoft’s statement on slow XBLVM HD downloads
So. Now that there are already downloadable movies on XBLM, you guys have are probably all hanging out in your living rooms, chilling with your buds (with Buds in hand *bliss*), and enjoying the HD goodness of movies and TV episodes… or NOT?
For the lucky few who haven’t been experiencing slow download times, good for you. But unfortunately there are a lot of other Xbox Live users who have been complaining that it takes a really long time to download HD content from the Marketplace. One QJ reader by the name of Wonga told us that he tried downloading “V for Vendetta,” but after an hour’s worth of waiting, the download progress was down to 4% (!!!).
AND, it gets worse, after seeing the teeny download progress, he watched in shock as the download canceled itself. So he tried re-downloading it, and this time, progress was up to 10% but suddenly an error message popped up saying “V for Vendetta could not be downloaded.” What gives? And this is only one of the complaints we’ve heard of, precisely because Wonga posted a comment in our Xbox360 site, but we’re guessing some of you guys have also experienced the same thing.
Apparently, Microsoft has heard the complaints, and has issued the following statement regarding slow downloads in XBLV:
Due to the overwhelming popularity of the new full-length content following the launch on Xbox Live Marketplace we are aware some gamers are experiencing temporary difficulties accessing content, due to the volume of demand. Download times will vary depending on broadband speed and size of content, and we expect the current issues some gamers are experience will be resolved soon.
Well, that’s that guys. But at least we know that MS is aware of the problem and hopefully all these issues will be worked out soon. We’ll keep you posted for more.
