Missile Command v0.4a – Wii-fied classic arcade action

Missile Command v0.4a - Wii-fied classic arcade action - Image 1Remember the old days of Missile Command? Back then, we had just a knob to tilt around so that the crosshairs lined up right. Constant speed of the targeting reticle had us thinking strategically and proactively instead of reactively. Now imagine replacing that control scheme with the Wii remote – just point and fire. Fantastic idea, isn’t it? That’s what you might say about homebrew developer ulti’s Missile Command v0.4 once you give it a whirl – after the full story, of course.

Author ulti (a.k.a Ultinor) has been hard at work with Missile Command for the Wii, a homebrewed recreation of the 80s arcade classic of the same name. Missile Command version 0.4a is the latest of the homebrew developer’s fruits of labor, and it’s now dotted with audio content such as music and sound effects.

Though more of the triple silo style, Missile Command v0.4 has captured the basic elements of gameplay and graphics. MIRVs, missile trajectories, illustrations of remaining for the three silos available to you are all squeezed in there. Coder ulti added a few personal additions such as the 100 missile mode and health indicators for the silos, and even managed to refine the graphics for better visuals.

To play the game, you will have to familiarize with the homebrew game’s control scheme. Take note that though a Wii remote is required, you may even control the game with an attached Nunchuk in addition to the Wiimote. The controls can be found via the source link provided below.
