Miyamoto won’t confirm HD for Wii 2, but says they’re working with evolving tech
Talking on the next Wii console, Nintendo’s main dude Shigeru Miyamoto refuses to confirm whether Wii 2 will go HD. He does, however, admit that technology is evolving and they are working with these changes. How coy.
Talking on the next Wii console, Nintendo’s main dude Shigeru Miyamoto refuses to confirm whether Wii 2 will go HD. Instead, he just drops coy hints:
I’m afraid we cannot confirm what we are doing today. But the fact of the matter is that technology is evolving all the time and in Japan.
For example… all the analogue broadcast will be stopped and shifted into the digital broadcasting.
So many things are taking place and we are working in terms of the changes of the technologies all the time.
Take it as it is. It’s no confirmation that the Wii will HD, that’s for sure, but Mariomoto does sound like he’s trying to hint at something. Or maybe that’s just me. Previous reports did say that Wii 2 will be truly next-gen, and “far more than a simple refresh of current hardware.” The same report said that Wii 2 will sport HD visuals.
That’s still a long, long time from now though, as Wii sales just refuse to show signs that the console is a fad. I’m actually more interested in whether Nintendo will ever lift its squeaky clean image and try to invite third-party devs to make more hardcore games like MadWorld.
