Modders having problems with Mario Party 8 backup copies?
Mario Party 8 is originally scheduled to be available in North America today but a couple of retail chains broke the street date and released the game early. So some fans got their copies earlier than others and a handful of these select few even created “backup copies.”
Anyway, there have been several reports circulating around that backup copies of Mario Party 8 are not working with modded Wii units. If we are not mistaken, this is just one of the very few titles we’ve heard that wouldn’t run perfectly on a modified unit. Some modders even claim that backup copies wouldn’t work at all.
We also got word that there are some modders that were able to run these secondary copies but according to them, the disc is still virtually unplayable due to some huge slow-downs. Any of you have a backup copy of Mario Party 8? Can you help us confirm these reports?
If these reports are proven true, they could only mean two things: first, it’s just a glitch – nothing more, nothing less. The second one, and we believe the modders have their fingers crossed on this one, is that Nintendo or Hudson Soft is already”fighting back.”
