Modern Warfare 2 PS3 multiplayer screwed by trophy patch, new update coming Friday

After the good news comes the bad. Just yesterday, news about trophies being blocked on the PS3 version of Modern Warfare 2 came out. That’s been fixed. The problem is, reports are saying the fix has royally messed up the matchmaking service.

Joystiq reports that patch 1.2 has made gamers unable to connect to Infinity Ward‘s matchmaking servers:

Today, launching the multiplayer mode from our own PS3 copy of Modern Warfare 2 did indeed prove futile, as we stared at the matchmaking screen for about five minutes before finally giving up.

Infinity Ward is rolling out a party invite update by Friday according to IW’s Robert Bowling. Hopefully that’ll fix the problem.
