Activision is positively raking in the dough in the wake of Modern Warfare 2‘s release. Biggest entertainment launch of all time? Could be. In the UK alone, the game has already sold more than a million copies in a single day.

GfK-ChartTrack data puts the game’s first day sales in the UK at 1.23 million copies, almost double the number of units that Grand Theft Auto 4 moved on its UK launch. MCV estimates that the sales figure represents a Modern Warfare 2 copy in every 24 UK homes.

Not bad for a “shocking” and “repulsive” game. Modern Warfare 2 is out now on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
