Monster Hunter Freedom (PSP) Receives Monster Reviews

Monster Hunter Freedom is the US version of Monster Hunter Portable, Capcom’s hot series that first appeared on the PlayStation 2 in 2004. The Japanese PSP game was released late last year and contained content from the original Monster Hunter and its sequel, Monster Hunter G (available only in Japan).

In Monster Hunter Freedom, players take on a variety of quests and beasts. Some of the tasks include retrieving a valuable egg from the nest of a dragon and hunting down powerful, just to name two. Hunters can feed on the meat of slain monsters, collect bones for weapons and armor, and even use them for decorative accessories. Now thatÂ’s something Martha Stewart would appreciate. By completing objectives, players receive an array of rewards that allow them to upgrade their weapon for even tougher battles. Already a big, big hit in Japan, this RPG will come to a store near you this May. However, pre-release reviews are available now and we compiled a few to give you an idea of what to expect:

IGN said “it all sounds pretty good. And from what we’ve experienced so far, it plays well also.”

“The PSP game will almost certainly be worth a look if you’re in the market for a good multiplayer game,” according to Gamespot PSP.

“May look like another hack n’ slash game, but it’s actually quite deeper than that,” says Game Daily.

And finally, and our favorite quote comes from a gamer who calls himself (herself?) “super”: “This game is gonna be the #%$^!!!!!!!!!!”
