We’ve been talking about Monster Hunter Portable 2 for some time now – free stuff that comes with the game, its champagne gold status, the like. We’re not complaining, really, but we’re only anxious about when this action-RPG will finally hit North American shores. So for those as interested as we are, this may be the first real update about the game in days.

Capcom announced that the second PSP game of the series just set a record in Japan in terms of pre-orders. This is actually important as we all know what happens to games that get huge. They get shipped. According to the figures released, the total number of pre-orders has surpassed the 400,000 mark, making Monster Hunter Portable 2 the most successful title prior to a release.

Also, Capcom reminded everyone that the original Monster Hunter was the first one to break the 500,000 mark. They added that at this rate, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the game surpasses its predecessor. Well, good for them. All we can add is that if they want to see bigger numbers, they better begin shipping Monster Hunter Portable 2 here.
