As for the other contenders in VGchart’s top ten, we have Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Matsuri for the PS2 coming in at second, with with Fire Emblem for the Wii is also enjoying its first week at #3 with a healthy 74,000 sales. As expected, top Japan picks like Dragon Quest Monsters Joker and Pokemon Diamond/Pearl are holding fast to numbers 7 and 8 respectively, although the fact that Monster Hunter is already nearing the one-million mark is sure to grab anybody’s attention – double that it’s a PSP title fighting in DS country.

Let’s see how the game will also do in the charts once it gets released in North America (under the name Monster Hunter Freedom 2) come September 2007. Stay tuned for more news on Monster Hunter Portable 2nd.
