Morback v0.1 – tic-tac-toe with graphical finesse
If games were a work of art, then homebrew game Morback would definitely qualify for gallery exhibition. Morback version 0.1 is a game of Tic Tac Toe. Artist Oxbow151, together with coder Spimort, took the simplistic concept of wrestling with Xs and Os and peppered it with amazing art worthy of critical praise – even for such an early build.
For now, the game tasks players with the simple rules of Tic Tac Toe, though the authors have much more in store for their new project.
Homebrew developer Spimort released the first build of Morback – a Tic Tac Toe homebrew game for Sony PlayStation Portable owners. Morback version 0.1 sports the cleanest, professional graphics this side of the homebrew scene (thanks to artist Oxbow151), but according to the devs there’s a ton of improvements to be had in the near future.
But first, let’s take on what Morback version 0.1 does offer. Right now the game’s build is entirely in French, and there are no other options available in the current build. It allows for two-player gameplay (or solo if you’re really into that), though it’s not fully implemented. You’d have to pass the Sony handheld over to your opponent for his (or her) move.
Aside from planning more multiplayer ad-hoc support and AI implementation, Oxbow151 (together with Spimort) hopes to add a way to customize skins (different visual themes) and create a English translated version. Morback version 0.1 does not come with a Readme, but it can be directly installed to GAME150 on your PSP – either Phat or Slim.
