More details and release date for Koei’s G1 Jockey

G1 Jockey, aka HorseBreaker - Image 1For the past few months, we’ve been hearing so little about the video game title G1 Jockey. However, the horse race simulation game was recently included in the list of titles that Koei is planning to release in the UK for 2007. This time, the spotlight shines bright and solely for G1 Jockey, as the game developer provides new information and a concrete release date.

The objective of G1 Jockey is pretty basic. Players begin as a rookie, and winning races and gaining experience will ultimately propel their characters to race legend status. Also, once you feel like your character has accomplished enough, you can have him retire and start his own stable.

In terms of control, players will be using the Nunchuk to control their horses during races in gambling arenas. The Wiimote, on the other hand, allows players to control a whip that will keep your horse going especially towards the last vital moments of the race. Koei Sales manager Will Curley remarked,

We’re hoping that this game will make all horse racing games before it look like a right load of old pony and have gamers trotting down to their local store to back a genuine winner and be first past the post with the greatest horse racing game ever.

The title will be available on June 29. We expect to hear about this title more in the coming days and weeks. G1 Jockey for Wii is actually part of the whole G1 Jockey series created by Koei. It first appeared on PlayStation 1 (PSOne) and the latest version prior to this was release last year on PlayStation 2 (PS2). The title is known in Japan as Horsebreaker.
