More details on Blue Dragon’s random dungeon generator
Blue Dragon is expected to become available across North America this August and in Europe sometime in September. While those are great news from Mistwalker, you might be interested to know that in Japan, fans are already talking about Downloadable Content“>downloadable content (DLC).
This involves the new dungeon that creator Hironobu Sakaguchi talked about at the beginning of March. Last month, it was revealed that it’s actually a downloadable random dungeon generator, and not to mention an “impossible” difficulty setting for the the video game.
According to Microsoft, the dungeon maker will be available on April 27 in Japan. It will be priced for 300 MS Points (around US$ 3.75) and is actually the first pay content for Blue Dragon. One striking feature of the dungeon is that it generates a different pattern (characters, enemies, and environment) every single time.
Now, it should be remembered that Sakaguchi mentioned that aside from bug fixes and localization, Mistwalker isn’t going to change anything in the video game. So does that mean the new dungeon will also be available in other markets as a downloadable content?
Since the gap between the Japanese release and those of other markets, we were thinking that if the developers decided to include this in the retail version right from the get go to spare fans additional charge… Oh well, we’ll see.
