Demon Sands teaser

The Turbine people just can’t stop gushing about the upcoming third module for Dungeons and Dragons Online, Demon Sands. This time, Turbine personality Adam Mersky, David Eckelberry, Derek Flippo, Heather Sinclair, and Kate Paiz joined the talk and divulged a lot of details about the third module and what could we expect from it when it hits live servers.

Eckelberry, DDO lead game designer, divulges that Demon Sands’ semi-official launch is this coming October 25. He continued by saying that it will be the biggest free content update he has ever seen made by any company. Communications honcho Derek Flippo agreed with that by saying “Demon Sands is big–really, really big! It will increase add 40% more content than we had at launch, and it is our sixth content update since DDO launched [in February 2006].Demon Sands is many times larger than anything we’ve ever built.” Aside from the alleged size, it will also raise the level cap from Level 10 to Level 12, plus the auction house system will be introduced.

DDO reaching Level 20 is totally possible, but it will take time. David Eckelberry mentioned that they could see that happening by the end of 2007 or by early 2008, plus he plans on introducing two new classes come next year. He says that that is his personal mission for the game. Wow, talk about dedication.

And then the interview just got out of hand – information-wise. David Eckelberry who has been the major talker in the interview with Ten Ton Hammer said that they are “getting ready to upload to our Risia test server some special warforged changes for Module 3. All existing warforged characters and all new warforged will be born with all of the Eberron resistances as part of the racial traits. Players will not need to spend any Feats or Enhancements to acquire these resistances.”

Those guys really know how to catch people off guard, no wonder their game is doing well and enjoying a huge following. If you want more Demon Sands tidbits and info, you can read the word per word account by clicking on the read link below.
