More Info on Devil May Cry 4’s Nero
A lot of you may already be aware of the fact that there’s a new hero for Devil May Cry 4, Dante is out and Nero is in to the Capcom horror-action series. But for some, the reasons for this switcheroo may still be vague. We already mentioned that the change in the lead character was made so as newbies and seasoned Devil May Cry players would have an equal opportunity to master the game. That’s why the guys behind the game leveled the playing field by ousting Dante and placing Nero in the centerstage. Another reason for the lead change was mentioned by Devil May Cry veteran, Hideaki Itsuno- “first of all, Dante sort of peaked out in the last game.“
When asked about the striking resemblance of Dante and Nero, Devil May Cry 4 producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi gave their reasons – “The silver hair and coats are symbols that make it easier to recognize the series’ protagonist…There is also a deeper meaning to their similarities…”
The good producer just can’t stop gushing about Nero as he mentions that the new lead character is a member of a religious group called the Kyoudan Kishi or “Order of Knights”. He will have some new powers such as the abilities to pull enemies toward him or throw them. Nero’s realization and usage of these powers was also divulged as an important plot of the game. He also said that “the sword has a sort of will of its own. Nero has tuned it himself, turning it into a very powerful weapon. I can’t talk about the specifics of the system, but we’d created a new style of game-play for the sword.”
Along with the playable demo and surprise announcements at the upcoming 2006 Tokyo Game Show, Kobayashi mentioned that “the stage event will include a real-time demonstration of the game…” We just have to wait for that.
