More like a Circuit City console launch part 2

reporterWhat are the qualities of a good reporter? Aside from flawless command of the language, a good reporter should be able to cover all sides and angles of any news item. What good then is a report if it’s rather bias and slanted? Here at QJ, lest we be judged of having grand delusions, we definitely aim for the same.

A couple of hours ago, we ran an article about some retail stores hoarding Wii and PS3 units in favor of family and friends. But did it even occur to all of us that they are keeping them, yes, but for different reasons? Over at gaming site Kotaku, one of their Circuit City mole claims that more Sony and Nintendo next-gen consoles will be hitting retail stores this Sunday. According to the tip:

We’re supposed to be doing a company wide re-launch of the Wii on Sunday, December 3rd. My store is getting 54 units, which is slightly above the average of 40 or so, and every Circuit is getting between 15 and 132 consoles.

Also, every Circuit will be getting 5-40 PS3’s across this week (before 12/1) and next week (between 12/1 and 12/6). My store is getting 26 across both weeks, which is once again above the average. The PS3’s will be both 20 and 60 GB models. Mostly 60 GB’s at roughly a 2:1 or 3:1 ratio.

Furthermore, Kotaku is also claiming to have a Target insider. Likewise, each branch of Target will be selling around 50 Wii units by Sunday. No word was given, however, regarding added PS3 shipments.

Does it sound good to be true to you guys? Well, we don’t know either. But on the other hand, we reckon that since it would be on a weekend and we all won’t be doing anything, paying our local Target and Circuit City a short visit this Sunday will never hurt anyway.
