On a recent entry made on the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) website, the organization has given an E rating for Sony Computer Entertainment America’s R-Types for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable.

Before people really cared about where the Bydo Empire came from and why they bothered invading that particular space in the galaxy, game developer Irem was already challenging gamers with the classic R-Type shooter when it was first released on the arcade platform back in 1987.

The game soon became one of the more iconic games of the side-scrolling shooter genre. R-Types bundles the first two installments in the series, which will soon be released as a digital download on the PlayStation Network.

We’ll make sure to keep an eye out for any news when R-Types will make an actual appearance on the PSN service. In the meantime, keep coming back to this spot for more updates regarding this hardcore shoot ’em up title.
