This one goes out to the MK fans – a new Mortal Kombat game is entering our realm, and it’s going to serve up lots of blood, just the way we like it.

The game, still without an official name, will be put under the hands of MK master Ed Boon and NetherRealm Studios, who’ll be working on the MK games from now on. “This game really is a response to what players have been demanding,” said Boon “mature presentation, reinvented 2D fighting mechanic and the best, most gruesome fatalities ever!”

Unlike the previous MK appearance in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, blood and gore will not be watered down to get a Teen rating from the ESRB. Warner Bros. Interactive reveals that the new MK will have extensive online play, a tag-team game option, classic 2D fighting, and a brand new graphics engine to put them all together. The game is eyeing a 2011 release for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
