MS Point Fraud Reported
One unlucky Xbox Live user received an email from Microsoft thanking him for his purchase of 500 MS Points, the only problem is that he never paid for them. Apparently, there’s been some type of glitch affecting people with credit cards hooked up to their Live accounts. Unfortunately, this gamer is not alone and maybe people have been faced with charges that they simply aren’t responsible for. After receiving many complains, MS released an update reassuring that refunds will be issued:
Hey everyone – I’ve got an update for you. All affected users will be getting refunds, none of you is going to have to pay for our mistake. And you’ll be able to keep the extra points too. We are still working out the details, and it could take a few days for all of this to be fully resolved, but I wanted you to know that we absolutely will be taking care of this, no one will have to pay for any of these charges.
It’s not comforting to know that some type of large scale credit card glitch could exist on an online gaming service as large as Xbox Live, but at least Microsoft is taking the proper measures to make sure everything is restored to the way things should be. Apparently, the users affected will not be charged AND they will be able to keep their points, so in the end you could say that they lucked out. If you happened to be on the receiving end of this problem, let us know how it worked out for you!
