MSN Messenger On the DS
There’s been previous speculation about the Nintendo DS’ capability to connect to MSN. With this entry in Thoduv’s devblog, he proves that one actually can have a secure SSL connection through which one can access the contacts list and online status, as well as (perhaps this is the best part) one’s MSN Messenger.
There are still some problems though with getting messages and with the connection itself. The Dswifi TCP is said to be a bit too unstable to correctly support the SSL connection. The DS also can’t receive some data sent by the server.
According to this developer, maybe the solution to these problems would be to test MSN’s compatibility with the DS when the next Dswifi is released.
Still, it’s good news that the DS can be connected to the MSN browser at all, so let’s not knock it (not too much, anyway).
