Namco Bandai: Huh? What Ace Combat 6?
This is a bit odd. We’ve already seen several screenshots and a couple of scanned images of Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation but Namco Bandai is still mum about it. Gaming site Eurogamer was able to talk to the company and its representatives said that they had nothing to announce to begin with.
To add to the overall oddness of this matter, it should be remembered that some themes and picture packs made their way to Xbox Live Marketplace the other day. Well, maybe Namco Bandai is breaking the news to us gently because this is going to be the first time an Ace Combat game will appear on a Microsoft console.
Generally speaking, the series belongs to Sony with different versions appearing on the original PlayStation One (PSOne), PlayStation 2 (PS2), and PlayStation Portable (PSP). One installment, Ace Combat Advance, did appear on Gameboy Advance (GBA) but that’s about it. The series began in 1995.
If this turns out to be true, summing up all the reports we’ve gathered so far, Ace Combat 6 will feature a multiplayer mode, another first in the video game’s history. This mode will include head-to-head battles, team, and co-op matches. Another feature called “allied support system” will allow players issue commands to friendly land, sea, or air units for a coordinated attacks.
There is still no word if the game will appear on PlayStation 3 (PS3).
