Namco Bandai readies Macross Ace Frontier for PSP
Here’s a bit of good news for PSP owners out there getting a little too tired of all these Mobile Suits. Japan’s Famitsu magazine has revealed that Namco Bandai is preparing a new Macross game for the PSP. Even more interesting is that the game appears to be based (partly) on the currently ongoing Macross Frontier TV series. More details are available over in the full article.
Finally – a mecha game that does not involve a Gundam. Well, sort of – Famitsu magazine reports that Namco Bandai is preparing the release of Macross Ace Frontier for the Sony PlayStation Portable. The game will feature characters and VFs from Shoji Kawamori’s Macross universe. Here are the particular shows that appear to be making it into the game (based on the scans):
- Super Dimension Fortress Macross (TV series)
- Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love? (movie)
- Macross Plus
- Macross 7
- Macross Frontier
Given that the Sv-51 was also among the screenshots, there’s a chance that Macross Zero will be included in the game as well. As some of the fellow mecha fans here may have guessed, the game takes its name from studio Satelight’s currently ongoing Macross Frontier TV series.
Based on the translations made via Jeux-France, Macross Ace Frontier is currently being developed by Art Dink. The game is currently 60 percent complete, with a launch window set for Fall 2008. Macross Frontier is currently at episode 14 over in Japan, so it’ll be pretty interesting to see just what sort of plot material the devs will be able to input before the release. Klan Klan as a selectable pilot? Now that’s an interesting proposition…
Anyhow, we’ve also posted a couple of the Famitsu scans here, in case you’re interested in peering over the game’s details.
