Namco Bandai: rumored Soulcalibur 4 install sizes “overblown”

Soulcalibur 4 - Image 1We all know that Soulcalibur 4‘s character creation system will be extensive, but does the game really need 2 GB worth of HDD space for save data alone? What about the 6.5 GB install for the PS3 and the HDD requirement for the Xbox 360? Well, Namco Bandai is still playing coy when it comes to exact figures, but the company has released a statement regarding all these install size rumors. More in the full article.

Soulcalibur 4 - Image 1After word of some pretty hefty install sizes for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Soulcalibur 4 came out of the rumor mill yesterday, Namco Bandai has gone into rumor-squashing mode.

According to Kotaku, the company has said that the supposed installation sizes for the PS3 version of Soulcalibur 4 are “not accurate and are significantly overblown”. Rumors pegged the install size at 8.5 GB, with 6.5 GB used for the game installation and a whopping 2 GB for save data.

Namco Bandai has so far refrained from releasing any exact figures, but according to a company rep, the actual amount of free space needed is “inline with other games requiring this feature.”

The company also hasn’t addressed rumors of hard drive requirements for Soulcalibur 4‘s Xbox 360 version. It should be noted however that the “Hard Drive Required” tag has been removed from the game’s info page on Xbox.com.
