Namco Bandai’s Zach Karlsson: Hellgate: London moving to the 360?
In an interview over at Next-Gen, Namco Bandai‘s director of business development Zach Karlsson informs that Namco Bandai is looking to focus on both multiplayer and online gaming. He notes that with the convergence of the console platforms and online PC space, they’re looking to bring multiplayer games into that inter-connective arena. He says:
Online is a very big console characteristic now so weÂ’re really looking at what multi-player games we bring to the space as well. With the Xbox360 and the ease of portability between the PC and Xbox 360 as well as the platform of the PS3, it really makes sense for us to really look at online as a platform rather than looking at individual consoles by themselves, in a bubble.
He elaborates that they’re looking to grow their already powerful portfolio of franchises (Pacman, Tekken, Soul Calibur) within the with new IP over the next 24 months. Given their push to move into the online world, it’s easy to speculate that their upcoming title (co-published with EA), Hellgate: London, a PC-RPG/multiplayer shooter hybrid may end up having an Xbox 360 version.
When asked about this, Karlsson refuses to confirm. However, he does admit that it’s highly unlikely that such a scenario is far from the company’s planning calendar.
Well, he said it himself, the Xbox 360 – PC interconnection has their attention. Time will tell if they make a move and plant their games in that new territory.
