Naruto Fight 0.01 for PSP
A few days ago, gizmo356 released the first version of his Lua-coded homebrew Naruto Alpha. As it’s still a work in progress, we were only able to see Uzumaki Naruto moving around a forest. There’s really nothing much going on with the game right now but we’re all looking forward to updates and kick-ass animation.
While we wait, we can turn our focus on yet another Naruto homebrew called Naruto Fight! As the name suggests, it’s a 2D game that pits one player against another. Nothing new there, I suppose, but developer Ace High claimed that the game will involve more trickery than other traditional fight games.
He explains, “In a two player game player one pulls off a replacement jutsu and his player vanishes from the second players screen and is replaced by an AI. While that AI is distracting player two, player one can jump over player two and start performing a more complex jutsu and blow the opponent away. Player one stays invisible ’till he makes an attack or the replacement is dispatched…”
The entire jutsu system hasn’t been though out yet, but the idea is to have each symbol be represented by buttons. Hitting specific buttons will allow players to perform the jutsu (a technique that rely on the manipulation of chakra, involving the use of body energy).
Ace High is keen on making the game true to the series as possible. And with that, we could look forward to seeing many different characters from the series, each having their own unique moves. The developer admits that it will take awhile before the beta version is released, as he has to work on several issues like AI, animation, memory, damage, and overall polishing. It’s a long way to go, but I’m sure the PSP community is more than willing to give this guy a chance, and perhaps help shape Naruto Fight! into one hell of homebrew fighting game.
