Still on the fence with Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm? Yeah, I’m with you there. If it weren’t for the awesome graphics alone, it’d be just like every other anime-based brawler out there, right? Nonetheless, that won’t stop Namco Bandai from releasing the game next week, so for now, we get another round of media and info. First up: screens!
The PlayStation Blog has a post explaining the game’s two different playing modes: Free Battle Mode and Ultimate Mission Mode.
- Free Battle Mode. This is your free brawling game mode where, just like in the anime TV series, your character can call on two others for support in a three-person team battle structure. Given that you can choose one primary character out of 25 playables, and then choose two support players, that gives you about… *calculates* …well, forget the math, let’s just say there are a lot of combinations!
- Ultimate Mission Mode. This mode will plop you in the middle of the Hidden Leaf Village where you get access to all of 101 missions in the game. Missions may vary: head-to-head battles with other characters, bosses too; heck even foot races through the forest (oh wow, as if what we see in the show isn’t enough). Ultimate Mission Mode gives you access to new Jutsu moves, purchasable items, and of course, Ramen.
So with that, here’s a pre-launch trailer:
