National Academy of Video Game Testers and Reviewers announces nominees
The National Academy of Video Game Testers and Reviewers (NAViGaTR) have announced the nominees for its sixth annual awards. Their annual awards were made to honor the best of the interactive entertainment industry in the fields of art, technology, and production. The voting body, consisting of more than 1,150 eligible video game media critics, analysts, and journalists determined the final 236 nominees in 48 categories. This is slightly more than the 223 nominees last year.
In the game of the year division, FFXII and Gears of War are sharing top billing as the most nominated game. Both games are just one short of the record set by Metroid Prime at 17 nominations.
In the publisher of the year division, Microsoft has received the largest amount of nominations with 29 under its belt with Square Enix running second at 23. However, it still has a long way to go if it plans on getting the top spot held by Nintendo which received 41 votes in 2002. A record that is unbroken till this day.
Winners in their respective categories will be announced on May 20, 2007.
