NCsoft clarifies reports about Tabula Rasa and Austin studio
In case you’ve been wondering about how NCsoft has been doing, wonder no more. The company has taken the time to clarify certain reports that were made about the state of the company’s Austin studio and about Tabula Rasa. More enlightenment ensues after the jump.
You may have heard it reported that NCsoft is in trouble right now because of the lackluster performance of its Tabula Rasa MMORPG. NCsoft, however, begs to differ. According to the company, things are not nearly as bad as some people may think.
NCsoft CFO Lee Jae-ho clarified that, while some downsizing is inevitable at NCsoft’s recently formed studio in Austin, Texas, it will only be limited to the Tabula Rasa team. It’s not as if the company isn’t giving up on the title, either: NCsoft has reportedly committed to investing several million dollars more into the game’s development.
Furthermore, Richard Garriott‘s Tabula Rasa is also set to launch in Japan later this year. Jae-ho has expressed hope that the game’s revenue stream will improve over time, especially since Richard Garriott’s other games have purportedly been doing well in the Land of the Rising Sun.
