Ndsvisuals VJ Demo Movie
Sagishi and company came up with an awesome homebrew application called ndsvisuals VJ.
Ndsvisuals VJ (working title) is a “system designed to loosen VJs from their stationary input devices, by equipping them with a wireless remote control – more precisely: a Nintendo DS gaming console by using all the features the Nintendo DS provides (such as two screens, a touchscreen, wireless networking). It enables VJs to control their visual performance from wherever they have a WLAN-connection to their notebook.”
For the rest of you DS people who don’t speak the language, ndsvisuals allows you to select, playback, mix and blend your footage by the drag & drop method. It can also change color, opacity, or scratch your videos by moving the DS stylus over the touchscreen.
The ndsvisuals VJ features include:
- Display an overview of available footage as screenshots on the Nintendo DS
- Arrange footage on three layers by drag & drop
- Change color/opacity of layers
- Blend layers by using different blend modes
- Scratch video files by moving the stylus over the touchscreen
- Control playback speed
- Include your own vvvv-patches as plugins, just by placing them into a specified directory and inserting a few special-named input nodes
- Control the vvvv-patches directly with the Nintendo DS
- Combine video files and vvvv-patches
- Change the opacity of all three layers by using a 2D-crossfader
The homebrew application itself is not yet available but the developers took the time to prepare a demo video of the ndsvisuals VJ in action and you can watch it right here.
