Neo Geo listed in Nintendo VC Japan website, yields empty slot for mystery console
Mystery’s afoot in the Nintendo Japan‘s Virtual Console website, and it’s certainly one that’s literally begging to be solved. No, it’s not what the squiggly characters of hiragana and katakana on the site actually mean (we’ve given up, seeing as none of us here at QJ can speak, read or write nihongo), but another language-friendly mystery entirely. It’s the blank slot next to the Neo Geo icon, as pictured in the image above this article.
What’s wrong about an empty slot, you ask? This means that there’s another console that the Wii’s retro-loving Virtual Console will be emulating, and just what console it is, Nintendo’s keeping mum about it. While it could be just a placeholder image to keep things tidy, we can’t help but speculate that it’s going to be an entirely-new console. After all, with the Neo-Geo’s addition, anything is possible.
So what do you think could fill that slot, dear readers? The Jaguar? The Sega Saturn? Maybe even the Sega Dreamcast? We can only hope that it’s one of those, but with almost all the other consoles emulated, whatever Nintendo picks to be in that slot will be a winner for sure. Updates as we get them.
