NeoFlash Spring Competition 08: NoobMiniGames for DS

Neoflash Coding Competition 08: NoobMiniGames for DS - Image 1Even though we’ve seen more than our share of entries from veteran developers in the 2008 NeoFlash Spring Coding Competition, we’re bound to see new faces making flashy debuts to the Nintendo DS homebrew scene. Singaporean coder cpy (or tiancai) is one of them. Check out the developer’s first DS homebrew project, NoobMiniGames, at the full story.

Newbie developer cpy (also known as tiancai) intended NoobMiniGames to be a collection of several minigames for the DS, but the Singaporean coder soon realized that the scope would far exceed the capabilities of a person fresh into developing homebrew.

So instead, NoobMiniGames, currently an entry to the 2008 NeoFlash Spring Coding Competition, carries only the first of many games planned for it – a game of Spot the Difference.

Though you would have desired more games, NoobMiniGames has well-rounded features, including a formal start screen and high scores list. Another good strength of the game is its professional-style graphics. And to think that the art used for the game is completely created by the author – that says a lot in itself.

Overall, the features laid out in NoobMiniGames will give you the feeling that considerable effort was made to create a placeholder platform for a few more minigame delights. So it’s likely that cpy will have updates for the later versions of NoobMiniGames. More on that when it happens. But for now, enjoy!
