Old-school game adaptations seem to be the latest trend on the PlayStation Portable homebrew scene nowadays. This latest entry for the NeoFlash Spring Compo 2008 competition is reminiscent of the classic Lunar Lander title, which was released way back in the 1970s.

Aap Lander is developer BlackShark‘s (Julian Williams) official entry for the competition and features all the gravity-defying goodness from the title on which it’s based on. You basically have to land your craft on the moon by setting the correct landing trajectory and velocity, all the while picking up various keys to advance to the next level.

The game features other neat options such as allowing you to play your own .mp3 files during gameplay. Please note that all .mp3 files have to be placed in the ms0://Music/ directory if you want to play your own custom soundtrack for the game.

In addition, Aap Lander comes with its own Windows-based map editor. The map editor is a good way to further extend gameplay once you’ve finished all the initial levels and comes with several pre-made maps for you to try out. You can read the instructions on how to use the map editor by taking a look at the Readme.txt file that comes with it.

In any case, we hope you enjoy this great download.
