It’s always refreshing to find homebrew applications which utilize all the functions of the platform it was coded on. This latest app includes intuitive motion sensing features as well as a rather flexible use of the Nintendo DS’s stylus controls.
Reno Studio Neo Compo is an official entry in the recently concluded NeoFlash Spring Compo 2008 homebrew coding contest and developed by willreno (Wang Nannan). It’s basically a multi-purpose notepad program which supports the English and Pinyin alphabets. The program is composed of two parts – the Reno memo notepad software and Reno draw image editing software.
Aside from being able to write messages on it, you can also make use of its very flexible copy, paste, and editing system using the stylus – just select the appropriate text using your stylus and then rearrange it to your liking. It also supports HTML text editing and includes a very user-friendly file browser.
The Reno draw software sports all the basic tools and functions that any Microsoft Paint program contains. Image magnification can go as high as 16 times and all files are saved under the .bmp format.
The cool thing about this homebrew is that a lot of the interfaces involving a cursor can be used in conjunction with a motion sensing peripheral which can be installed on your DS. For more information on how to use this nifty app, please take a look at the source link we’ve provided below.
