NeoGeo CDZ Emulator for PSP v0.1.2 Released

NJ has finally released his NeoGeo CDZ Emulator for PSP, version v0.1.2. NeoGeo CDZ Emulator for PSP is a port of NJÂ’s own NeoGeo CDZ Emulator for Windows. NJ has been working hard on this emulator these days. Information of the new version:

Neogeo_cdz_emulator_0201– 0.1.2

The emulator is separated to 2 versions. The difference between them is the sound CPU (Z80) emulation core.

MAME Z80 Version: Uses the core from MAME. The load is heavy, but the processing is more accurate.
C80 Version: Uses my original code. The load is light, but the processing is a bit unstable.

  • Fixed the freezing issue of Art of Fighting 2.
  • Fixed the issue of freezing and displaying “load error” on ADK games.

  • Fixed the issue of forgetting to clear MC68000.
  • Fixed the issue that a part of the screen is not displayed after loading when there is no loading screen displayed.
  • Loading speed boost when loading with no loading screen, or loading screen disabled.
  • Added 2 options
    Added the sprite management functions to get better speed performance. No need to adjust it in normal cases though.

    Cache clear timing: delete the sprite from cache when designated frame rate cannot be achieved. This option is used to set the wished frame rate. If you try to decrease the cache size by setting a low value, the checking time of per frame will be added, and the system load will increase instead of decrease. 30 or large value recommended.

    Palette refresh type: specify the cache clear method for palette updating. When updating the palette, you can choose between “Clear the whole palette” or “Only clear the sprites whose palette has changed”. Usually the 2nd one works better.

Development State:

  • There are too many small bugs in the source code now, which delays the source code from being released.
  • Hardware rendering for processing full-screen palette animation is still not good enough. The Galford opening of Samurai Spirits 2 is very poor now.
  • A part of the sound in Power Spike 2 still doesnÂ’t play. Same for some other games too.
  • IÂ’m not to sure about the reason, but the sound problem seems fixed 😛
  • Clearing up source code.
