NetDevil’s Warmonger, Operation: Downtown Destruction at CES

NetDevilA warmonger (n.) is one who craves for war. Often used to describe dictators, tyrants… and maybe gamers too.

NetDevil, an MMO dev has released info about its latest project Warmonger, Operation: Downtown Destruction at CES. It combines the powers of the AGEIA PhysX processor and the Unreal Engine 3.

Warmonger, Operation: Downtown Destruction is set in 2029 where two corporations, PolyChem Oil and General Energy, fight for supremacy in the Global Corporate Wars. An all out war breaks out over a large share of oil fields. Players are tasked to conquer cities, block by block. Maps and environments are fully interactive. It’s completely possible to utterly level an environment; players would have to adapt to environment destruction. And with every round completed, new maps will open.

The unique destruction system allows for destruction to be interactive as well. Walls, stairs, ceilings, and vehicles can be manipulated (e.g. destroyed) to enhance gameplay. For example, a sniper can destroy stairs to prevent access to his spot.

Devs are excited with the use of both PhysX processor and the Unreal Engine 3. Manju Hedge, CEO for AGEIA comments,

WeÂ’ve been very impressed with what theyÂ’ve been able to do with our PhysX processor, as well as visual enhancements theyÂ’ve made to the game by combining it with the Unreal Engine 3. The benefits of the destruction system are noteworthy, and added PhysX elements of fluids and cloth will give a depth and feel that truly reflect the cutting edge of gaming interactivity.

Whether Warmonger is a full blast MMOG, NetDevil didn’t say. We’ll keep you posted about this new FPS, so better stay tuned.
