That didn’t take too long to confirm. A mere day after word got out of the possibility that Netflix will indeed be coming to either the PS3 or the Wii (or both), we now have official confirmation from Sony that the movie streaming service will definitely be on their console. Details after the jump.
That didn’t take too long to confirm. A mere day after word got out of the possibility that Netflix will indeed be coming to either the PS3 or the Wii (or both), we now have official confirmation from Sony that the movie streaming service will definitely be on their console.
So says the press release sent out:
PS3 system owners will soon enjoy an unparalleled experience watching their favorite movies and TV shows streamed instantly from Netflix, downloading from the PlayStation Network or watching Blu-ray/DVD media. The Netflix offering expands on the entertainment experience delivered to PS3 system owners via PlayStation Network.
Monthly subscription to Netflix on your PS3 will cost you US$ 8.99. At this rate, you can then watch movies and TV episodes all you want. If you’re a Netflix member, though, you’ll be glad to know that you will be able to stream movies for free initially after the launch of the service. All you have to do is put in the free instant streaming disc (that is currently being made available to Netflix members), and choose from among the movies and TV episodes conveniently organized for you.
No word on for how long you can enjoy this free streaming privilege, but what is certain is that Netflix members can now reserve the free instant streaming disc by heading to this site right here.
