New Afterburner: Black Falcon screenshots and info
Fighter jets equal high-speed dogfights and huge explosions. At least that’s how I’ve always looked at it, and it seems I’m not the only one. Sega has seen fit to revive the classic After Burner franchise, this time bringing the classic arcade game’s action to the Sony PSP with Afterburner: Black Falcon. If you’re looking for some intense air combat, then this title’s got exactly what you want.
In Afterburner: Black Falcon, you are tasked with the retrieval of a bunch of fighter jets stolen by a terrorist cell known as Black Falcon. Players can choose one of three characters at the start of the game, each of which has a unique personality and some character-specific missions. The plane of your choice can be controlled using the PSP’s analog stick. The face buttons control the afterburners and whatever weapons it happens to carry, while the shoulder buttons manage the maneuvers.
Afterburner: Black Falcon has a total of 19 officially licensed military planes that you can customize to your heart’s content. Add weapons, afterburners, special components, and even a brand new paintjob to your plane before you take off and engage in some high-speed aerial combat. On the multiplayer side, you can compete against your friends via ad-hoc in a variety of multiplayer modes which also include team matches.
Sounds good? It looks good too. Check out the screenshots below courtesy of IGN. Afterburner: Black Falcon will be making its way into stores in the U.S. in March 2007.
