Geekbench AI
After months of beta testing the newly renamed Geekbench AI 1.0 has now been released. Its goal is to give users the ability of making comparable measurements of Artificial Intelligence across iOS, macOS and more. The tool was first released in beta in December 2023 under the name Geekbench ML, for Machine Learning. It allowed comparisons between the Mac OS and the iPhone. Geekbench AI is a new version of the app that claims to be able to measure and gauge performance more effectively. The company wrote in a blog that “with the 1.0 release we think Geekbench Al is at a level of reliability and dependability that allows developers to confidently incorporate it into their workflows.” “[And] many big names such as Samsung and Nvidia have already used it.” Running Geekbench AI in a Mac MiniThe regular Geekbench provides separate scores for devices that have single-core or multi-core processors. Geekbench measures three different types workloads. The company continues, “Geekbench AI provides its summary of workload tests performed with single-precision, half-precision, and quantized data.” This covers a variety of AI systems in terms of precision and purpose. The company emphasizes that it aims to produce comparable measurements which reflect real-world AI use — however wide-ranging that may be. Geekbench 1.0 can be purchased directly from the developer. The tool is free to most users and runs on macOS and iOS. It also runs on Android and Windows. Geekbench AI Pro is the paid version. It allows developers to keep scores private rather than automatically uploading them to a public website.
