Yes, a new crime has surfaced concerning laptop users – it’s called ijacking, which takes place when someone grabs a person’s laptop. There seems to be a wave of this type of crime in San Francisco and may continue to spread throughout the country. Crime rates have increased since 2004, starting at 17 in 2004 up to 30 cases in 2005. It’s obvious how and why these crimes are occurring, people lay their laptops on a table and the next thing you know its gone. The crimes are very easy to commit and laptops are easy to grab, hide and the thief can get a nice dollar amount for the stolen laptop.
