New FFXII Revenant Wings Screens gives gameplay hints
What do we know about the game so far? Storyline-wise we know that the game picks up from where FFXII ends, and will feature Vaan (now with his very own airship), Panelo, and the legendary floating continent Puruvama. What about gameplay? Well, other than that odd trailer floating around in YouTube, and that Dagenki DS Style interview with the developers of the game that reveals that it would feature staple summons and a DS version of the Gambit system, not much gameplay-wise.
Well, these new images we found at Famitsu might give you guys an idea of how gameplay should feel like. So what can we discern from these images? Well, in-game graphics feel a lot like Chrono Trigger (especially in the second image from the left), only a bit smoother.
Moreover, combat looks a bit disorganized. While we know that Gambits are implemented, we’re not entirely sure if the ‘free-motion’ feature of FFXII is in the DS game. Well, given that huge mess in that combat screenshot, ‘free-motion’ is a possibility, and if that Dagenki interview is to be believed, then combat should have healthy doses of stylus use. It could either have a max of four people in a party, or it may still be three plus one guest.
Well, we can’t really say anything more conclusive, given this one screen, but don’t worry, we’ll keep you guys updated when more word leaks!
