New Form of PSP Title: Sound Novels

Japanese PSP owners can use the PSP in another way.

Movies, music and games not enough for you, PSP owners? Then how about a sound novel? Sound novels combine music, images and text, telling viewers a story that’s not quite movie, not quite book and most certainly not game.

The Japanese PSP will be getting its first sound novel via Metro. The publisher has announced Jitsuwa Kaidan: Shin Mimi Bukuro — Chapter 1 for the PSP (the first part of the title translates to “True Ghost Stories”). Based on the Shin Mimi Bukuro ghost story series which has spread to comics, dramas and movies, this PSP entry uses narration, text and 3D sound to tell fifty scary ghost stories. As a bonus, the “game” will also include a live-action video of the latest Shin Mimi Bukuro work.

A Japanese release is set for 7/28.
