New gold spamming method in World of Warcraft: Falling Gnomes?
We’ve all seen salesmen who would do anything to get a sale, it seems that the gold spammers in World of Warcraft have once again taken it one step further with a new marketing campaign: Falling Gnomes. These level 1 gnome warriors were plummeting to their deaths in Ironforge with their bodies spelling out the name of a site that peddles gold.
The players reaction to this kind of marketing is currently mixed. While there is obvious anger at these spammers who tend to ruin everyone’s days by forever harassing them, the method that was used in this case is at least creative. So far many theories have been thrown around on how these guys have been doing this, such as client-side hacks and what not. Still, we doubt if it’s still going on since the GMs have come in to clean up according to Blizzard Poster/ Moderator Auryk.
The gold spammers are getting more and more desperate to sell their wares, sacrificing Gnomes to sell their carefully horded gold. Is this a sign of weakness or simply one of the many methods they have lined up to advertise to players? More on this as it happens.
