New Hot Shots Golf GPS title revealed
Since Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops came out with GPS gameplay functionality, it seems that developers are turning to using PlayStation Portable accessories as a way to introduce new gameplay styles. From an issue of Famitsu magazine, it was found that the first title to be using the dual UMD concept is also gearing up for a GPS game functionality.
We all know Hot Shots Golf: Tee Off for the PSP, aka Minna No Golf in Japan, right? Well, according to Famitsu, the latest title in the series will also be sporting some features for your GPS mounted PSP.
The game, which under Famitsu’s article is called Minna No Golf Ba, is supposed to allow golfers to play golf in predetermined real life courses and play there. But given that not everyone can hop right over to the golf courses in Japan, the game will also allow virtual golfers to play the game in traditional mode, tilting your PSP so you’re playing it vertically instead of horizontally.
But for the game to store all the content, it has to span over two UMD disks. The first disk will hold around 16 courses from southern Chiba, plus a special course. The second disk will include around 15 courses from the northern part of Chiba, just to the east of Tokyo.
The title should come out by May 31, 2007 in Japan as Minna No Golf Ba Vol. 1, but the English version (if one was ever to be made) has yet to be announced. More volumes are being planned to be released in the near future to include other courses in Japan.
